Their search engine is really intuitive and has found everything I have searched for and I’m referring to songs from the 50’s and 60’s where these have been remastered. Then recently, an advert on a social media site came up for Tidal and as I have had other mainstream music apps before and wasn’t impressed, I decided to give Tidal a go and signed up for their free month trial. I first came across Tidal from a studio performance of The Warning Band recorded in their studio by Tidal Rising for Halloween 2022 and the video quality was excellent on my Oculus Quest2. If it continues, I’ll be looking elsewhere, especially because of the offline/downloaded section, which is not on par with the step monthly payment. I’ve always used Tidal because of the higher pay rate to artists, but increasingly, the changes are dreadful window dressing/distraction/noise from actual simplicity of use, which is utterly bizarre to me. & albums should be viewable by covers only, scrolling like in a record shop. Also, it’s extremely often that the album artwork isn’t there for the downloads. Its preposterous that you can’t search/filter downloaded tracks on your phone & have to scroll its entirety to find stuff. I don’t care what I’ve played most, I want swift access, solid connection (not always a given), & I 100% want a completely reworked download’s interface. Ever increasing layers of Recently played, Mixes for you, statistics/useless information etc (it’s not a sports stats app, & you should be able to hide all these) that you have to scroll through to get to anything I am actually interested in (new albums, sometimes tracks). The constant updates seem to add an ever increasing amount of stuff I REALLY don’t care about. So it looks like tidal works with my car and in general but only when I have Apple Music app on and active (which would mean I’d have to buy both subscriptions?).įirst off, I ADORE the the sound quality & the actual look of the interface (colours etc)… of course there’s a few howevers. I decided to download Apple Music app back on my phone to see if it makes any difference and it worked right away whenever I plugged my phone to the USB port in my car the tidal app played music normally. There was no music coming off the speakers even tho Tidal on my phone was showing that it was playing the music (I could see progress bar on my phone moving). After deleting Apple Music app when I plugged my phone back into it USB port it didn’t work. I still had Apple Music app on my phone when first used tidal in my car and it worked. I’ve originally had Apple Music app as my music player but was not happy with the quality of music therefore I downloaded Tidal and cancelled my subscription with Apple Music. Overall it’s great app and couldn’t be happier but when I try to use it on my car it doesn’t work (my phone is connected via USB port ). Subscription automatically renews on a monthly basis.
